The Haven's mission is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ so that all may

Christ. Disciple individuals to become spiritually, physically, and emotionally

Giving Hope To The Homeless Since 1956
|
Established in 1956 by Don and Wilma Chalfant as “The Haven
of Rest Rescue Mission”, the Haven provided meals, shelter and
the gospel message to homeless men. Since that time, the
Haven has grown to offer many innovative programs that provide
services to the ever changing homeless population who need
assistance in learning the necessary steps that lead individuals to
self-sufficiency and productivity. The Haven provides
comprehensive services to the homeless individual through
emergency shelter, food, transitional housing, substance abuse
treatment and case management.
The Haven would like to thank the entire Battle Creek Communit y for their generosity
and support! Every single day of the year the Haven serves 150 homeless individuals
from Calhoun County and each year provides over 75,000 meals. Without the
support of the community The Haven would not be able to provide the services that
are so vital to helping homeless individuals become self-sufficient members of the
community.
This year at The Haven every man, woman and child staying in our shelters were able
to receive a stocking and Christmas gift thanks to the wonderful people who live in
our community and donated these gifts. The gifts were not fancy and expensive, but
gifts of things that these individuals really needed. Things like new blankets, hats,
gloves, socks, sweatshirts, coats and personal care items. Once again the
community of Battle Creek has come together to help each other in a time of need!
Thank you again Battle Creek for allowing The Haven to continue our mission, which
is: "To proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Clothe, feed and shelter the
homeless in the name of Christ. Deciple individuals to become spiritualy, physically
and emotiionally functional and able to live optimally within God's Kingdom and the
community."
