Inasmuch Doors Have Opened! The New Inasmuch House Is One of a Kind In Calhoun County
|
The Haven of Rest has opened the doors to the new Inasmuch House, which is a shelter for women, children, and
families. Before the opening of this facility there was no place in Calhoun County where a homeless family with children
could go and stay together, as women and children stayed in one shelter and men stayed in another. The new Inasmuch
House has solved this issue with a male inclusive wing allowing families to stay together, rather than splitting them up in
already tragic times. Inasmuch House is also twice the size of our previous shelter and now has room for 55 residents to
accommodate the overwhelming number of homeless families seeking help. We are thrilled to be in this new building,
where we are capable of helping so many more families than ever before.
The Haven's First Ever Soup or Bowl was a Super Time! Soup or Bowl at Nottke's Family Fun Center Was Fun For The Whole Family
|
The Haven hosted the first ever Soup or Bowl on February 9, 2008at Nottke's Family Fun Center. The event
included a soup tasting contest and three hours of bowling. The Hunt Club, Applebees, Don Pablos, Cracker
Barrel, Denny's, Finley's American Grill, Bob Evans and The Haven's Kitchen Manager Randy Swartz all entered
their finest soup recipes. All the soup was absolutely delicious, but in the end The Hunt Club's Cheeseburger
Soup was voted "The Best Tasting Soup in Battle Creek". The Haven would like to thank Southern Michigan
Pool Pros, Julie Shouldice with Stetler Vanderveer and J&S Tree Service for their gracious sponsorships of
Soup or Bowl. We would also like to thank everyone who came out to Nottke's and attended the event, making it
a success and raising needed funds for The Haven.
